The Power (and Importance) of Repetition

Repetition! It’s such a powerful little 4 syllable word called repetition. repetition. The word/concept is so Important- It has ties to leadership, persuasion, messaging, mindset, advertising, entertainment & more.

There are two parts to this episode:

Part 1: What’s the acceptable amount of repetition in different kinds of entrainment- music, podcasting, Joe Rogan, comedy? I approach this part as less entrepreneurial, more conversational & non-authoritative.

Part 2: Why Repetition is the cousin of the word “Fierce,” which is how you have to be in order to build something big. Being repetitive allows you to put in the 10,000 hours it takes to become an expert.

Repetition

Obviously my first 13 episodes sucked ass, but what can i Say?

Its going to be awesome when i get to 100 episodes.

My message is that repetition is such a powerful little 4 syllable word called repetition. The word/concept is powerful- It has ties to leadership, persuasion, messaging, mindset, advertising, entertainment

Goosebumps, Pick your journey!

I’m going to talk about repetition, the same word & concept, from 2 different approaches. Basically par 1 part 2

Part 1 like my last 2 episodes,

Part 1) Personal Branding/Podcasting

What’s acceptable amount of repetition in different kinds of entrainment- music, podcasting, comedy

If you’re going to be a voice, and your words are going to be your currency, its seem to me that being repetitive is crucial. Robert cialdini, how to in friends & indlucne people dale caregie, timeless books abuot persuaions.

Policitians have their stump speech

And podcasting is funny and has its own art when it comes to repetition. Specifically business podcasting. Its entertainment, but also supposed to be informative and provide value with advice which is complicated

The first time I thought of doing my own podcast was a few years ago listening to gary, and coming to the realization. OMG i already know all the basics when it comes to being sucessful & happy.

I cant listen to this anymore beecause its turning from education to entertiamnet because i already know everything.

Joe rogan is very reptitive on the podcast.

Whats stopping him from getting boring is the fact that he brings on a unique and often interesting guest which stirs up the conversation. His entire show is based around the guest.

Im a very young 30 year old who loves to think and talk, and this podcasting is my first side hustle. I’ve always thought I would be a great person to have a business podcast, and thats why I’ve been consistent (Which is the cousin of repetition) by doing 14 episodes in 14 weeks.

I haven't been that repetitive. Doing a different topic each week! I should still be talking about how they used to call me ‘t-shirt boy” and burning the boat and how I was all over the news in college, how i came from nothing in my moms basement and hustled every second the past 7–8 years

I’ve been on like 5 or 6 podcast, bored by telling my story. On a different note, I’ve heard somebody like Gary Vee say the same thing 5 million times.

Different fields different approach

podcasting/talking is right in the middle of being a musician and a comedian

What’s acceptable amount of repetition in different kinds of entrainment- music, podcasting, comedy

Comedians may want to their hits , but people want new materials because of the art of comedy

Comedy doesn't allow you to laugh as hard the 2nd time, forcing comedians to pay new shit when they may want to play the hits!

Musicians may want to play new stuff when people want the hits. The art for music is different and people like singing along and being familiar

Messaging repetition is a powerful tool. Advertising, politics

So this sean is thinking, should I be more repetitive. Should i stick to different random topics every week? Thats the open ended question

Part 2) Business & Successful mindset- More of a practical and proven approach through my experiences

In order to want to be successful in business you have to be kinda fierce. And repetition is the cousin to being fierce.

A Loser think:

Have a good idea! Don't do anything or talk about it again ever. Go to lame job and live for the weekend. Hate your life, That idea goes big, you think you deserve credit because “I thought of that idea!”

Winner think:

Repetitive people are annoyingly focused and resilient, and that’s what it takes to build a business. The person never stops doing what theyre doing.

Thorough- comes of as annoying. Im know to repeat myself a-lot when talking to my employees. I need to make sure they understand what I am saying.

Compound effect & 10,000 hours- focusing on one thing

Repetition to myself

You get better with repetition -that’s why changing habits is hard

Repetition to my company- processes

Message 95% of companies fail
